1. Swelling Around the Wrist

A swelling over the back of the wrist or the front of the wrist is likely to be Ganglion, a fluid filled cyst.

Is likely to be Ganglion.

2. Wrist Pain

Pain in the wrist, possibly after a fall or strain is likely to be from a ligament strain within the wrist or from a cartilage tear (similar to the cartilages within the knee)

Is likely to be Wrist Arthroscopy.

3. Wrist Pain and Restricted Movement after a Fall

Wrist pain after a fall could be from a fracture of the Scaphoid Bone.

Is likely to be Scaphoid Fracture.

4. Wrist Fracture

Simple fractures usually need immobilisation in a Plaster of Paris cast. More complex fractures often need a small plate to hold the fracture in a stable position, this is done as day case surgery.

5. Wrist Arthritis

Severe cases of athritis a joint replacement can be carried out. This is very effective in relieving pain and maintaining movement but is not suitable for those doing heavy manual work a wrist fusion is very effective in this group of patients.
