Elbow Pain with Locking or Jamming

Specialisation     Qualifications     Surgery Locations     Insurance Company Schedules and Fees

Locking or jamming of the elbow is usually investigated with an MRI scan plus radio-opaque dye – an MRI arthrogram. If loose bodies or small pieces of bony material are floating around in the elbow joint they can progressively damage the joint and cause locking or jamming of the joint.

An elbow arthroscopy enables the lining of the joint to be clearly visualised and the loose bony fragments can be removed through the arthroscope. This is carried out as a day case procedure and involves two or three small wounds which require one or two stitches per wound. The stitches are removed at 10-14 days after surgery.

In the UK patients need to have their General Practitioner's permission for a referral. This can be done by means of a phone call after you have described your symptoms , your G.P. will then send a referral letter to my secretary and we will contact you. Please note the majority of Insurance Companies insist on a GP referral before you are seen.

After you have contacted your G.P. a convenient appointment will be made.
I consult at:
